St. Paul Island DXpedition

A New Country for 60 Meters

CY9C August 19 to 29

This DXpedition is led by Randy N0TG and Murray WA4DAN. These fellows have led several high profile trips over the years.  The 11 man team will operate from two island locations for 10 days. The team is very skilled and experienced operators.

It is not the best time of the year for 60 meters, but that is the only time the team was granted permission to activate this NEW COUNTRY on our band.  Being in the middle of the summer and higher noise level, it may be harder for some stations to get into the log. Remember CY9C wants you in the log as bad as you do. I would expect Europe and the East coast of North America to have a greater chance to work them.

Will AA4NC, is the main 60m op and he is very proficient in CW and SSB. He is using an inverted vee that was made by the late Gary K4AVC and last used on K1N Navassa.  He will be operating from the Northeast point location (see photo on the website); a wonderful clear view in all directions.

As with all DXpeditions, a need for up-front money is greatly needed and appreciated.

Please go to their website at: http://www.cy9dxpedition.com/donate.html.

Any donation, no matter how large or small, will be very much appreciated.  Pre-Dxpedition donors who make contact will receive a QSL automatically; no need to request a card.  They do this as a small way to express their appreciation for your support. Also your call sign will be listed on the Sponsor’s list on the web.

With regard to the 60m operation, I will be in constant communication with the team and AA4NC prior and during the operation to assist in coordination and support for activating this new 60m country. We thank the team for including 60m in this Dxpedition.  Let’s encourage and support this operation the best we can   Regards, Joe – W8GEX (email address okay per QRZ.com)
