I’ll be QRV on Thursday late afternoon, June 22, as C6ADX on 6 and 60 meters until the morning on the 29th. My wife Janet W8CAA will be active as C6AYL.

 

NEW COUNTRY:  Burkina Faso XT2AW

Harald DF2WO tells me he’ll be at XT2AW starting Sept. 29 to Oct. 30. This will be a one man operation. On all modes, QSL to M0OXO.

 

Kenya: 5Z4/DL2RMC Has been active the last few nights on JT65.

5Z - Kenya now has authorization to operate the 60 Meter band, on a share

basis.  Amateur Radio operator from 5Z can now be QRV between 5.275

and 5.450 MHz.  This coming Friday and Saturday nights 5Z4/DL2RMC,

Tom, is planning to be QRV on JT65.

 

Paraguay: Pino ZP4KFX was on JT65 last night. I am sure he’ll be on more.

 

V47JA - I will again be operating from our Calypso Bay, St. Kitts, West Indies vacation home, located 200 feet from the Caribbean Sea, from July 12 until August 5, 2017, and active on 6-160m (incl. 60m) SSB. H40, TEMOTU PROVINCE (Update). Stan, LZ1GC, will once again be active as H40GC from Temotu Province (OC-100) between September 30th and October 20th. South Africa:

 

Please could you update the readers on South African 60m activity.We have 10 active wspr stations in South Africa. Most of the inter continental spots are during late evenings and early mornings. Our wspr frequency being 5.287.2 Mhz.

The aim is to gather information to add stats for future 60m band allocation.

Hi Joe, in May I have been active on 60 Meters from Farm Wüstenquell in the Namib Desert. Condx have been poor. I made 24 QSOs with EU and one contact with NA. The Antenna was a  40m-Vertical with a

loading coil for 60 m and 12 radials each 10 m long. I have been running 50 W out from my ICOM IC7400.

My next 60 Meter-activity in Namibia will be in 2018.

5 MHz for Jamaica:

Hot on the heels of now being code-free, Jamaica also has access to 5 MHz.

In a recent update to their National Frequency Allocation Table published by regulator the Jamaican Spectrum Management Authority (SMA), the WRC-15 60m Amateur Secondary Allocation of 5351.5 – 5366.5 kHz has been granted under ITU Footnote 5.133B, which in the case of Jamaica means a maximum power of 25W EIRP.

Spokesman for the Jamaican Amateur Radio Association (JARA), 2nd Vice-President  Ivor, 6Y5DW, said that JARA is advocating use of the new IARU Region 2 60m band plan.

It has videos showing propagation predictions for that early 2018

time frame.  The tab for the propagation is in the header menu.  You

can choose time, frequency and signal strength for your QTH.  This is

based on the average sunspot numbers forecast for January, 2018.
