Finland, A NEW COUNTRY:

The Finnish Communication Regulatory Authority (FICORA) made a surprise decision today and allowed all OH-stations - regardless of the class - to use 5 MHz. It's the WRC frequencies 5351,5 - 5366,5 kHz

and 15 W EIRP. So you might hear a lot of OH stations on the band today. The decision was retroactive from the morning of Dec 9th -----

However, those club stations as OH2P aka OH2BU, who have a special permit to use eight spot frequencies ( 5278.6, 5288,6, 5298.6, 5330.6, 5346.6, 5366.6, 5371.6, and 5398.6 ) are allowed to use them as long as their individual license for that is valid. For some stations the license is valid till the end of 2019.

Ficora promised earlier, that the permit will be given from 1.1.2017 but did it now.

reported by Jari, OH2BU

Active already has been OH3NE, OH1LEG, OH5ESU, OH7KM and OH3CT

407CC has been active on the band. No info on QRZ.COM about him.

You never know who’s listening: I have been in contact with Felix DP1POF who is located at the German research station "Neumayer III" in Antarctica, about 1,300 miles North of the South Pole. He’s been listening on 5357 JT65 mode. He has copied VE9DX and K6EID and others. It’s his summer time and in full sun 24/7. He’s unable to transmit as Germany has not authorized use of 60m. He’s ready when it happens.

Dominica J79WTA: Walter HB9WTA is now QRV on 60. He will be

there until February, 2017 off and on 60m.

News from San Andres: 5K

AA4NC Will and AA4VK Ron will be on San Andres from Feb 14 to March 7. The only unknown is my call sign at this point. It should be either 5K0N or 5K0X.

I will be operating the ARRL DX contests, so no 60m during those weekends.

73,  Will AA4NC

St. Kitts V47JA:

W5JON John will be in St. Kitts from November 15, to December 15.  Feel free to email him for a 60m schedule at W5JON@SBCglobal.net

60m Website: The 60m website is at www.60metersonline.com

Please send your station picture with you in it  to webmaster@60metersonline.com and we will be happy to post it with the others. It’s nice to put a face with a call. On the website we have a 60m DXCC country count. It has nothing to do with the ARRL DXCC award. Go to Achievements, DX Awards and you’ll see who is on our country leader board. Feel free to send your totals to the webmaster for posting. As you work a new one, advise our webmaster to update your listing webmaster@60metersonline.com
